There's too much spring sunlight and dappled shadow in them, too much wonder at the newness of it all. He tugs gently on the lapels of the banyan Ed is wearing over his trousers. It has been Ed's and Ed's alone for these long months. Stede shows no inclination to try to reclaim it or any of the rest of the clothes Ed might have sold but somehow never got around to getting rid of. The silk slides over Edward's bare skin and Edward, mesmerized by the sensation, lets the motion carry him forward. His lips meet Stede's in a moment of delicious inevitability.
